Master list of completed projects on Freya

The list below keeps track of my progress on Freya’s maintenance and restoration to date, with links to project descriptions and/or suppliers where appropriate:

  • Full interior cleaning, including removal of plywood below settees/berths to clean dirt accumulated in hard-to-reach spots
  • Deep cleaning of all interior cushions with Rug Doctor
  • Hull sanded and buffed to remove stains and restore gloss (full description here)
  • Replaced gooseneck screws
  • Applied name and hailing port to transom (Boat US Graphics)
  • Replaced cracked rubber boot on bilge pump (Whale gaiter kit)
  • Replaced batteries, installed solar panel (full description here)
  • Replaced most of the running rigging:
    • Topping lift: climbed up mast to install block, added 70 ft. of 1/4 Sta-Set
    • Jib halyard: replaced with 85 ft. of 3/8 Stat-Set X
    • Mainsheet: replaced with 75 ft. of 7/16 Regatta Braid
    • Jib sheet: replaced with 35 ft. of 3/8 Regatta Braid
    • Installed Cunningham / reefing hook
    • Added control lines (5/16 Sta-Set) and hardware (cheek blocks, cleats) for two reef points on boom
    • Replaced cam cleat with Spinlock for jib sheet (full description here)
    • Spliced all new lines
  • Engine:
    • Replaced low-pressure fuel line (filter to pump)
    • Added freshwater flushing system (full description here)
    • Replaced injection pump
  • Cut and spliced new dock lines
  • Disassembled and cleaned all winches
  • Re-wired mast with proper thru-deck connectors (full description here)
  • Replaced brass in-line valves with bronze seacocks (full description here)
  • Added locks to panel behind settees in cabin to prevent them from flapping in a seaway
  • Added tiller extension
  • Replaced rubber feet on swimming ladder
  • Replaced knob on gear shift/speed lever
  • Cleaned up and oiled whisker pole
  • Installed new stereo (WM 4000)
  • Added mid-rail cleats for spring lines (Schaefer)
  • Disassembled, cleaned, painted with Cetol and re-installed teak eyebrows and handrails (full description here)

  • Cleaned and painted pulpit, coamings, dorade box, companionway trim and other small pieces with Cetol (full description here)
